Specific areas

Literacy; Mathematics; Understanding the World; Expressive Arts and Design, plus nurturing Characteristics of Effective Learning, such as:

painting/mark-making/chalking – encourages early writing skills, creativity and imagination.

collage/junk modelling/construction/puzzles – helps with hand-eye co-ordination.

singing/story-telling/music – encourages communication and early literacy skills.

dance & movement/sit & ride vehicles, outside play – encourages co-ordination, core stability and playing co-operatively.

We also hold ‘Stay & Play’ sessions; annual Sports Morning; Nativity service; and have special visitors from within the community, such as police officers, fire fighters and the school crossing patrol.

Pre-School staff

We have a permanent team of eight staff, most of whom work on a part-time yet regular basis to ensure continuity for the children.

All staff have up-to-date training in the Safeguarding of Children and Paediatric First Aid. Basic Makaton signing is used by all staff, with one staff member having a broader knowledge.
