The more we communicate with our partner, parents, children, friends and colleagues the better, richer, and more meaningful those relationships become. Trust, faith, respect and love all increase when we communicate well and often.
Our relationship with our heavenly Father is just the same. The more we communicate and relate to God in prayer the closer we become, and our love for God grows as we experience his love for us more often, more meaningfully, and more powerfully. The more we pray the deeper, richer, and the more dynamic and satisfying our relationship with God becomes.
Like all communication, prayer involves both speaking and listening, and so when we pray to God we talk to him and listen to him, for God speaks to us through lots of different ways.
We can talk to God about anything and everything - our greatest joys, our deepest fears, our successes, our failures, our good health or our sufferings. We can ask God to help us with major decisions in life, difficult relationships, healing from physical, emotional, spiritual or psychological injury, for wisdom, guidance, patience, love, grace, mercy, strength, courage and forgiveness, amongst much more besides. There is nothing that is off the table with God.
God will always answer prayer, but his timing and his answer might not necessarily be what we want, but it will be what we need, and it will be in accordance with the perfect will of God. As our heavenly Father he knows what’s best for us, and so whatever the outcome we can be assured that our loving Father is with us in all things.
Here at Whetstone Baptist Church we have a dedicated prayer team who pray, confidentially, for our church family, but also for people who don’t yet come to Whetstone or who perhaps do not currently follow Jesus.
This is a strictly confidential email account that only the prayer team can access. If you would like one of the prayer team to get in touch then please say so in your message and enter your email address and name in boxes opposite, otherwise we will assume you wish not to be contacted. Many times the Lord has spoken to us when we have been praying for someone, and so we would encourage you to leave contact details in case God has a message for you, but please don't feel pressured to do so.
From October 2016, and in association with the Cooperative store near our new build site, we are offering a new way of our community to request prayer. We have installed a 'prayer postbox' where shoppers can fill in a card, post it, and then members of the church prayer team collect the requests and pray for the person posting. The service is completely confidential, and has been consistently used with at least one request each week since the box was installed.
To use this service, pop in to the Co-op, Dog & Gun Lane, Whetstone, LE8 6LJ.
