Church Leadership Team (CLT)

Each leader is responsible for one or more areas of church life. Their role is to encourage, envision, value and support the ministry leaders and teams in our church.

CLT elections 2019

Each CLT member serves for a maximum of six years in two three-year terms. Each year at our AGM the members elect the new group of leaders. Our team for 2019-20 includes the following new people: Laurence Bagley, Sarah Liquorish, Charlotte Bodsworth and Philippe Ndabananiye. Their profiles will be added here soon.

Find out about the current team, their roles and interests.

Sarah Bywater

Church Secretary

Communications

Sarah was first appointed as Church secretary in 2018. She works as a communications officer for Leicester City Council, and was a teacher previously. She has been in fellowship at the church since coming along to children's clubs as a child, and is still involved in the children's  work. Sarah is married and has one grown-up son.

Denise Burley

Church Treasurer

Denise was first appointed as Church Treasurer in 2015. She works as an accountant in Leicester for a five-partner firm and likes to think she can bust some of the myths about accountants. Her full-time job brings many skills which are useful in leadership and also for being treasurer. Denise is also active in the worship teams, and can often be seen signing to the songs. She is married to Neil.

John Denney

Data protection

Alpha course

John has been coming to WBC for many years since bringing his boys to Sunday school here. He’s currently involved with our Alpha course. John is the Responsible Authorised Person for registering marriages within the church. Every Christmas he plays a leading role at the Ducklings and Pre-School parties (guess what that is!).

His interests include his family, sporadic attempts to learn Japanese, cooking and writing books. John is married to Val who edits our In Touch magazine.

Alan Hewerdine

Office Manager

Buildings and facilities

Alan has been at WBC for over 20 years, since coming to Leicester when he worked with Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship (UCCF). He's served the church in various roles. His big passions are mission and discipleship, including encouraging Christian giving. Alan is a trustee and volunteer at a community library. He loves most sports (watching these days), puzzles, reading and DIY.

Alan is married to Judy and they have three adult children and six grandchildren.

Tristan Owen

Worship

Tristan has always been at WBC, experiencing all the children's and youth groups, then the Alpha Course at 14 before experiencing God's leading into many faith-challenging and faith-building situations. He is a talented drummer and plays in our various worship groups. He is married to Sally and has one daughter.

Joy Wright

Corporate Prayer

Joy has been at WBC for over 30 years, first attending the Young People's Fellowship before being baptised and accepted into membership a few years later. She has been a Sunday school teacher, a creche leader and part of the mission action team prior to her appointment to the leadership team. She is the Prayer lead for the church. She is married and has three grown-up children
