For nearly 40 years Whetstone Baptist Church Pre-School has been providing a warm welcome to all children from the age of 2½ years.

At Whetstone Baptist Church Pre-School children are encouraged to experience a range of play-based activities within a Christian environment.

Our curriculum provides opportunities for children to enjoy learning, grow in confidence and to progress towards early learning goals, as detailed in the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, in a safe, happy, caring and stimulating environment.

Through play, conversation and interaction with adults and peers the children are motivated to learn and develop lifelong learning skills.

Pre-School environment

All our activities provide children with the opportunity to have fun, play together, grow in confidence and be motivated to learn.

We operate from two pre-school rooms, a large hall and a secure garden. Our sessions consist of

  • supervised free play
  • adult led and child initiated activities
  • active play
  • creative activities
  • snack and quiet time

During these sessions we provide opportunities for children that support them across all areas of development.

We also hold ‘Stay & Play’ sessions; annual Sports Morning; Nativity service; and have special visitors from within the community, such as police officers, fire fighters and the school crossing patrol.
